Scientific and Technological Centre for Unique Instrumentation of the Russian Academy of Sciences (STC UI RAS) conducts a large research and practical work to solve modern problems of space exploration.
A scientific group led by the head of the department of infrared spectroscopy, PhD, prof. V.A. Vagin has developed the optical guidance system on spacecraft in the interests of ROSCOSMOS State Corporation. The development of our Institute is distinguished by high speed and operation accuracy. When designing the scanner, special attention was drawn to reducing the mirror turning time by optimizing the motor control algorithm. This objective was successfully achieved. The main features of the development may be described as follows. The scanner provides visual axis deflection across the satellite flight path by ±90° and along the path by ±14°. This is achieved by rotating the scanner mirror around an axis parallel to the track and changing the mirror tilt to this axis by ±7°. The deviation of the field of view along the path allows you to increase the time of observation of selected areas up to 15-60 s, depending on the altitude of the orbit.
